What is PhytoFortify?
PhytoFortify is an advanced Plant Defence Activator based on nature-identical phytoalexin technology.
It works with the grass plant’s own natural systems, priming recognised defence pathways and supporting the accumulation of defence-related polyphenols within the plant.
These compounds form part of the plant’s natural response to pressure and are associated with tissue strength, plant vitality and resilience.
Controlled laboratory evaluation found that PhytoFortify-treated plants produced more than 20% higher levels of polyphenols, without a significant increase in hydrogen peroxide. This indicates a selective priming response rather than a broad oxidative stress reaction.
PhytoFortify has been developed around this plant-first approach — supporting the plant’s natural defence pathways, physiological efficiency and overall resilience.

A measurable response within the plant
In a controlled four-week study, PhytoFortify-treated plants showed:”
1. More than 20% higher levels of defence-related polyphenols
2. No significant increase in hydrogen peroxide
3. Greater growth and biomass
4. Stronger, darker-green plant colour
The absence of a significant hydrogen peroxide increase supports the conclusion that PhytoFortify produced a selective priming response rather than triggering a broad oxidative stress reaction.
Practical on-course evaluation Alongside the laboratory work,
PhytoFortify is currently undergoing independent, on-course evaluation.
The trial programme is being designed and run by Dr John Dempsey, PhD, an independent turfgrass scientist with extensive experience in turf disease biology and plant defence responses.
Dr Dempsey acts as an independent observer, overseeing trial design, on-course implementation and evaluation of turf responses under real playing conditions.
Trials have been running since early 2025 and combine replicated field observations with laboratory analysis.
